We are pleased to inform you that RESULTS JAPAN, in partnership with the Tokyo Rinkai Disaster Prevention Park, will host its 15th international kite-flying event at the Tokyo Rinkai Disaster Prevention Park on May 22nd, 2016. The theme of this special event will be “securing a bright future for our children”. The Tokyo Rinkai venue is the only park in Japan designed to help prevent and handle natural disasters, and it acts as a central base of operations for disaster prevention i...n the entire Tokyo Metropolitan Area.
RESULTS Japan first inaugurated a kite event after The Great East Japan Earthquake in 2011, aimed at allowing children in the affected areas in the Tohoku region to share the thrill and enjoyment of flying kites, which in Japan are considered good luck charms. We have since provided these opportunities to children in eleven countries including Palestine, The Philippines, Nepal, Cambodia, Chile and Haiti, countries where people frequently suffer natural disasters, wars and extreme poverty.
On the occasion of the Ise-Shima Summit (G7 Summit) in May, we are pleased to invite you and your family and friends to this special event, which will include a program involving the simultaneous flying of more than 100 kites. In addition, attendees will be given the opportunity to experience for themselves the simulated effects of a magnitude 6+ earthquake, to learn how to survive for 72 hours after such a disaster, and to view the advanced operation room of the facility.
